The Conservative Answer to ACORN -- WALNUT!!!
|
| The Workers Against Lazy Non-producers United Together (W.A.L.N.U.T.) aims to organize a major constituency of CONSERVATIVE working class Americans across the United States. The working members of W.A.L.N.U.T will take on the issues of taxation without representation, the over-taxing of the working class for the purpose of wealth redistribution and the pursuit of the FAIR TAX. Another goal of W.A.L.N.U.T. is the education of the conservative working class American about the infringements on our great Constitution, Bill of Rights and to be a unified voice to our government. We can no longer sit back and let our government spend our hard earned money on those who choose to be non-producers of society. We must stand united and let our voices be our weapon. |

States United for America: Restoring the United States Of America
|
| It is all too obvious that the "power" of the vote is not working. With no term limits, the culture of corruption and abuse has changed OUR Federal Government into a National Government Oligarchy, no longer representing "We The People" as a whole, rather representing self and special interests in the name of Political Correctness, Social Engineering, and Centralized Power! They have taken complete control of our states, using OUR money and Constitutional loopholes to justify "their way or the highway." The States actually have the power under Article 5 of the Constitution, NOT to be confused with a Constitutional Convention, to stop the TYRANNY! They are either ignorant of this and how it works or lack the fortitude to take action. Are you aware that We The People are being denied our constitutional right to an Article V Convention to propose amendments, despite a whopping 750 (or more) Article V applications from the state legislatures of ALL 50 states? Now it falls on our shoulders, the experienced American patriots, to let our state know we are behind it. That we will be there for and support it in every way. That we will accept no less than a complete return to the values instilled in the original Constitution and the Bill of Rights, realizing that neither would have been possible without The Declaration of Independence. |

Are you a conservative? Or are you, instead, a Classic Liberal?
by John C. Goodman |
| Basically, classical liberalism is the belief in liberty. Even today, one of the clearest statements of this philosophy is found in Jefferson's Declaration of Independence. At that time, as is the case today, most people believed that rights came from government. People thought they only had such rights as government elected to give them. But following the British philosopher John Locke, Jefferson argued that it's the other way around. People have rights apart from government, as part of their nature. Further, people can form governments and dissolve them. The only legitimate purpose of government is to protect these rights. People who call themselves classical liberals today tend to have the basic view of rights and role of government that Jefferson and his contemporaries had. Moreover, they do not tend to make any important distinction between economic liberties and civil liberties. The Bill of Rights proclaims that individuals have "rights." But what does it mean to have a right? Are some rights fundamentally different from others? In the classical liberal tradition, rights have several characteristics... |

12/01/08: Rush Limbaugh interview with David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union
|
| [snip] Keene: ... Obama people now think that the American public wants Obama to do everything that Obama publicly or privately wants to do. When politicians conclude those things, they almost invariably overreach. ... I think these people will overreach relatively quickly. The question is, will conservatives be able to respond effectively enough during that period to stop them, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE TO STOP THEM... [snip] Keene: I told you earlier I was an optimist. I've always proceeded on the assumption that voters are smarter than the politicians who think they can fool them. That's why I say that the Obama people are misreading the election, because the voters of this country are not left-wingers, they did not vote for Barack Obama the community organizer. They didn't vote for Barack Obama the radical. They voted for the Barack Obama they saw saying he was a centrist unifier, at a time when they were very upset with the people in power. And that was not an irrational decision on the part of the American voter, given the information they had. If you want the right outcome you have to be able to get them the information they need, and you have to be able to talk straight with them, and you have to be able to convince people that YOU're credible and stand on principle. |

12/01/08: Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again
by Tim Wood |
| Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two years. I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years, a shorter time span than just two terms of a U. S. presidency, it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors, all with the best of intentions of course. As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another drink, and ignoring what is transpiring around me... |

07/27/09: Conservatives need to develop a Culture of Resistance
by Myrna Sokoloff |
| Americans voted for "change we can believe in" not the dismantling of the capitalist system in favor of a state run economy. Many independents and Republicans said in justifying their support for Obama in the belief that he was a pragmatist not an ideologue. He would use the smartest people to come up with the best solutions to the problems facing us. Those of us who said he was a leftist radical were ridiculed. But actions speak louder than words. All this has made me conclude that the Left had the right idea about protest. They have always been better at it than our side. It's a group thing. Conservatives prize individualism. So it is against our nature to do this. But we can learn from their success. The Left now controls the government. The radicals that were the counter-culture are now the establishment. Therefore conservatives must create a "culture of resistance" and become the counter-culture. We must resist the authoritarian system. We must call for "freedom". We must demand choice in health care, freedom from taxes that fund programs we don't agree with and freedom to celebrate the religious heritage of our country. We must also say loudly "you don't speak for me" when the President does not put the national interests of the United States first! Our "culture of resistance" must be an aggressive constant thorn in the side of the new radical establishment. Let's see how the Left likes being on the other side of the barricades! |

05/22/09: From Teflon To Tarzan, The '30s Proved Capitalism Never Sleeps
by W. Michael Cox |
An intriguing aspect of today's economic mess is renewed interest in the Great Depression, the calamity that engulfed most of the world in the 1930s. Digging a bit deeper...we find there's more to the story of the U.S. economy in the 1930s. Telling it even briefly provides some messages relevant to what we're going through today. The 1930s confirm how free enterprise economies unleash human creativity and initiative. Determined, resourceful entrepreneurs who believe in their dreams, work hard and refuse to accept the prevailing pessimism have a chance to succeed in good times and bad. The 1930s remind us of the power of technology to drive progress. A critical mass of inventions and innovations combines with capitalism's profit motive to speed the introduction of new products and industries. The 1930s show that markets function well even when under stress. The Great Depression's pockets of progress teach us that free enterprise systems can offer opportunity and improve living standards even in the worst of times. 04/14/09: The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity"
by Audrey Hudson and Eli Lake, Washington Times |
| A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority. "It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says. The document says the federal government "will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months" to gather information on "rightwing extremist activity in the United States." The FBI was quoted Monday as saying that, since November, more than 7 million people have applied for criminal background checks in order to buy weapons. Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center added that he was generally pleased with the report. "Basically, the report tracks fairly closely with what we have been saying for some time now. They mention us a couple of times, though not by name," he said. |

04/13/09: Time for Conservatives to Stop Financing the Left
by Richard A. Viguerie and Mark Fitzgibbons |
| Many liberals despise us conservatives, but they sure love our money. How is it that they get our money? Well, many liberal and supposedly non-ideological nonprofits receive taxpayer funding. In return, they support big government, and oppose conservative values and policies. Taxpayer-financed charities have become sycophants for corrupt politicians and the big-government machine that give them our taxpayer dollars. But it's more than a matter of politics. Conservatives can do two things to buck this, instead giving money to those who support our interests: (1) stop contributing to charities that receive taxpayer money, and (2) stop contributing to big-government Republicans who fail to halt the flow of our tax dollars to liberal nonprofits. |

01/28/09: Can Free-Market Values Survive In An Increasingly Secular World?
by Steven Malanga |
| The 18th century English cleric and theologian John Wesley was troubled by a paradox that emerged as his teaching spread. He, like other Protestant thinkers stretching back to Calvin, taught that one could honor God through hard work and thrift. The subsequent burst of industry and frugality generated by Wesley's message improved the lot of many of his working-class followers and helped advance capitalism in England. But "wherever riches have increased, the essence of religion has decreased in the same proportion," Wesley observed, and subsequently pride and greed are growing more common, he complained. The meltdown of the financial markets in the last few months has left us grappling with how we can keep markets free and principled at the same time. The only debate so far is between those who want more government regulation — who want to impose from the outside via the regulator's eye the restraint that our institutions once tried to instill in us — and those who think that more government will only undermine our prosperity. Neither side seems to be winning the public debate because most Americans are probably equally as appalled by the shortcomings of the markets as they are by the prospect of more government control of them. People instinctively know something is missing, just not what. A religious revival in America seems unlikely. Is it equally as unlikely that our institutions, most especially our schools, would once again promote the virtues that made capitalism thrive and Western societies prosper — not just hard work, but thrift and integrity, or what we once called the Protestant ethic? |
